RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins has reported that long-time Leeds United target Azzedine Ounahi is heading to Marseille.
Leeds target Ounahi set to join Marseille
In January, 90 Min had reported that Leeds were willing to pay £22 million to sign Ounahi from Angers, after he starred for Monaco at the World Cup.
However, the French club were demanding a £26.5 million fee from Jesse Marsch’s men, which indicates just how much Premier League clubs are charged due to the incredible financial muscle every team possesses.

But it has now been claimed that Leeds target Azzedine Ounahi, described by Jose Mourinho as ‘absolutely incredible’ (as relayed by GOAL) against Portugal in Qatar is set to join Marseille for £8.7 million on a 4 and a half year deal.
This comes as a big blow for the Whites, as the addition of the silky technician would have elevated their side to the next level.
Currently, Marsch and Co. lack a creator in midfield of Ounahi’s caliber within their squad, who can create chances for fun, whilst grafting like there’s no tomorrow.
Leeds need to keep searching for creative midfielders
After Azzedine Ounahi has seemingly picked Marseille as his next destination, what Leeds United cannot afford to do is give up in their search for a creative midfielder.
Currently, the onus seems to be entirely on Wilfried Gnonto to produce a moment of magic for himself, or for Rodrigo to put the ball into the back of the net.
While the Whites have been deemed too good for relegation, with teams strengthening smartly in January, such perceptions could be made a mockery out of in the second half of the season.
Taking that into consideration, Leeds should not be bogged down by Ounahi being Marseille-bound, and instead stay persistent in their search for a new midfielder.
