Leeds United and Tottenham are set to miss out on Eintracht Frankfurt attacker Daichi Kamada with the Japanese international agreeing to sign for Portuguese giants Benfica.

According to Sky Germany, the UEFA Champions League side have reached a total agreement with the 26-year-old forward over a potential signing, however, Frankfurt themselves are not willing to let another one of their star players leave this summer, especially this late into the transfer window.

As per the report, Benfica are willing to offer as much as €15m (£13m) to sign Kamada this week, but with Frankfurt already losing Filip Kostic to Juventus, the German powerhouses are not open to also letting their other key forward depart despite interest all summer, with Leeds and Tottenham reportedly in the race for the attacker.

Kamada was a crucial part of Frankfurt’s UEFA Europa League winning squad last season, with the forward continuing his form this campaign with two goals already in the Bundesliga, yet with Benfica agreeing to sign the player, Eintracht could be stuck in a bind with their Japanese superstar.

Hailed as ‘exceptional’ by BT Sport pundit Lucy Ward, Kamada has been one of Frankfurt’s best players in recent years and one of the standout names in the Bundesliga, with his performances in Europe, in particular, drawing a lot of praise from fans and critics, and it makes sense why the attacker now wants to sign for Benfica.

Whilst Frankfurt themselves are in the Champions League this campaign, Benfica are regulars in the competition and could provide Kamada with continuous minutes in Europe’s biggest club tournament, with the Portuguese side making it all the way to the quarter-finals last year.

Frankfurt should accept Benfica’s offer to sign Kamada

Kamada has been an exceptional servant for Frankfurt since being plucked from obscurity in Japan back in 2017, and with the attacker now in the best form of his career, it makes sense why the forward wants to sign for Benfica, something the German club should accept in the coming days.

Indeed, whilst it is understandable why Frankfurt don’t want to lose one of their star players, Kamada has more than deserved a move for his career, and signing for Benfica would be a great next step for the attacker despite Premier League interest from Leeds and Tottenham this summer.
