Leeds United teenager Morten Spencer has earned praise from Sunderland talent Ethan Kachosa after Spencer helped Leeds 21’s keep a clean sheet in their 1-0 win over Kachosa’s Sunderland on Monday night, in Premier League 2.
Michael Skubala’s 21’s have made a stunning start to life back in the second tier of Premier League 2. The Whites were relegated last season, but they have hit the ground running, securing 19 points from a possible 21 in seven games.
On Monday night, they secured their sixth league win of the season – a 1-0 win at the Stadium of Light. A game that included numerous high-profile names. Italy international Willy Gnonto scored the only goal of the game.
Amad Diallo, Edouard Michut, Bailey Wright, Dennis Cirkin and Leon Dajaku started for Sunderland. For Leeds, Cody Drameh, Darko Gyabi, Joe Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood and Mateo Joseph. Spencer took to Instagram after the game.
Leeds teenager Spencer earns praise from Sunderland talent Kachosa
Spencer, 18, started for Leeds 21’s as he continues his breakthrough into the reserves. The Norway under-18 star is naturally a central midfielder. But playing four times for the 21’s this season, he has played in the middle of defence.
Alongside Kris Moore, the inexperienced duo came up against a player in Diallo that cost Manchester United £20million. He has played for Atalanta, United, Rangers and now Sunderland. But Spencer coped with it superbly.
Excellent in the air and winning tackles, the converted midfielder showed his natural passing instincts out from the back. He was arguably Leeds’ best player on the night, alongside the likes of Gnonto and right-back Cody Drameh.
Spencer earned plenty of praise – but perhaps, from a surprise source. Kachosa was an unused sub for Sunderland on the night, and he commented on Spencer’s Instagram, saying “too good, bro”. Ian Harte also commented.
