Leeds target Rodrigo De Paul is good enough to play for any team in the world according to his former manager Julio Velazquez.
The ex-Udinese manager spoke to Gazetta Dello Sport (via TuttoMercatoWeb) about the Argentine midfielder, and he didn’t have enough good things to say about him.
De Paul’s former manager clearly thinks that he’s a world class player, and these comments show exactly why Leeds should go all out to sign him.
“He comes from a difficult season, but from day one I told him that I considered him a top player and that he could become an international player as it actually happened.” Velazquez said.
“His strength is intelligence on and off the pitch. On the pitch he knows best what space to occupy and how to do it. On an extra level, however, he understood how Udinese would have been the best place for him to grow.
“He lacks absolutely nothing, he could play in any club in the world. He has also improved on the defensive level and in attack he improves the team.”
This is incredibly high praise for De Paul, and Leeds should be on alert.
Unfortunately, it seems unlikely that De Paul is going to join Leeds in January as Udinese’s Sporting Director has said that he won’t sell him in January, but next summer, he could be available.
Udinese sit in the relegation zone in Serie A, and if they end up getting relegated, De Paul could be available for a cut-price fee.
Leeds have certainly been interested in the past, with Gaby Ruiz admitting that they have been in contact with the Serie A outfit about signing him, and if Udinese go down, they may well end up going back in for him.
