According to Goal.com, Leeds United are interested in signing Pedro Chirivella from Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that Leeds are among the Championship clubs who want to secure the services of the 21-year-old defensive midfielder.

The youngster has made only one appearance in the Premier League for Liverpool, and also had loan spells at Go Ahead Eagles and Willem II since 2017.

Leeds fans would be forgiven for thinking that Chirivella would be an underwhelming signing, especially as he has not made a massive impact at the highest level and the Whites would be challenging for the Championship playoffs next season.

However, Real Madrid’s reported past interest in Chirivella should encourage Leeds supporters.

Back in September 2014, The Express claimed that Spanish and European giants Madrid are monitoring Chirivella’s progress at Liverpool.

It was reported that then Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti had earmarked the midfielder, who was then 17 years of age, as a potential target.

Liverpool signed Chirivella from Spanish club Valencia in July 2013 for a transfer fee reported by The Express to be worth £2 million.
