Atletico Madrid attacker Matheus Cunha could sign for Wolves as early as this week, with Leeds United set to miss out on the Brazilian international to their Molineux rivals.
According to El Partidazo de COPE, the 23-year-old forward could be a Wolves player as soon as this week, with the Premier League side close to signing both Cunha and his Atletico teammate Felipe as Julen Lopetegui inches towards his first deals as manager of his new club.

Cunha heading to Wolves will be a big blow for Leeds, with Jesse Marsch’s side this week being linked with the Atletico outcast as reported by Relevo as Everton were also interested in the attacker. However, both clubs now look set to miss out on the forward.
Valued in the summer at £42m according to TalkSport, Wolves are expected to sign Cunha for a much lower transfer fee as the attacker looks to finally end his Atletico nightmare with a move to the Premier League, with the forward hardly featuring for Diego Simeone’s side this season.
Indeed, with just seven goals and eight assists in the last two seasons, Cunha is in need of a career restart following his disastrous move to Atletico last summer. And whilst Leeds will be kicking themselves for missing out on the South American, Wolves could be the perfect next club for Brazilian international in 2023.
Wolves signing Cunha could be one of the deals of the January window

Wolves have always had a knack of getting good deals for high-quality players in large part to their relationship with super agent Jorge Mendes. And there’s no denying that Cunha falls into a similar category to previous transfers such as Ruben Neves and Raul Jimenez.
After all, there’s an incredible player in Cunha just waiting to be unlocked at the right club. And Lopetegui could be the perfect coach to get the best out of the Brazilian star with a deal now on the verge of being announced, much to the dismay of Leeds.
