Leeds United are reportedly closing in on striker Jerry Mbakogu.

Leeds United look to be attempting to push through one deal in the coming days, though it may be with a view to the summer rather than before the transfer deadline.
The Whites have tied up deals for Aapo Halme, Laurens De Bock, Yosuke Ideguchi and Adam Forshaw this month, but fans have been looking for another striker to arrive as well.
Now, the Yorkshire Evening Post report that Leeds are pressing ahead with a move for Carpi striker Jerry Mbakogu, with a £3.5million deal in the pipeline.

However, Mbakogu’s move is only scheduled to go through at the end of the season, subject to a work permit, meaning Leeds fans will have a little wait before they can see him in action.
The 25-year-old forward has hit eight goals in 20 games this season, and has earned praise over the years for his combination of power and pace, even earning comparisons to Didier Drogba some years ago.
One interesting note on Mbakogu is that, last summer, Corriere Dello Sport reported that Swiss side Lugano were hoping to land the forward as a replacement for none other than Leeds ace Ezgjan Alioski.

After losing Alioski to Leeds, Lugano wanted to bring in Mbakogu as his replacement, but ultimately couldn’t seal a deal; now, the pair look set to play together as teammates from next season, in a strange twist of fate.
Mbakogu won’t be able to aid Leeds’ play-off hopes this season, but Thomas Christiansen and co will be hoping that he and Alioski can link up with great effect from next term onwards.
