Leeds United have had a couple of reasons to keep an eye on the Spanish second division this weekend.

With the international break still ongoing, Leeds’ scouts may have been taking the opportunity to spend some extra time looking at some of their potential targets with just a couple of months until the January window opens.
The Segunda Division in Spain is likely to have been of particular interest to the Whites with two players recently linked with Elland Road switches enjoying positive weekends.

Firstly, Fran Merida – who the Daily Mail suggested in September was on Leeds’ radar – was part of the Osasuna side that put themselves top of the table with a 2-0 win over Cadiz.
Merida played the full 90 minutes and picked up his fifth booking of the season in the game, but Numancia’s inability to beat struggling Real Zaragoza on Sunday means that Osasuna will remain at the summit until Tuesday at least.
Meanwhile, Emi Buendia is another player plying his trade in the Spanish second tier who Leeds are looking at, as reported by The Sun on Sunday (print edition; 17th September 2017; page 63).

Buendia currently plays on loan at Cultural Leonesa who enjoy a relationship with the Championship side, and he bagged his sixth assist of the campaign to help Leonesa secure a 1-1 draw.
Meanwhile, Leeds loanee Ouasim Buoy’s struggles with Leonesa continue as he was an unused substitute for the fourth time this season.
