Speaking to La Nacion (via TuttoSport), Leeds United target Rodrigo De Paul has opened up on his future at Udinese.
The Argentine did a lengthy interview with the Italian outlet, stating that he’s very happy and comfortable with his current club, but it seems as though he’s not written off a potential exit in the near future.
The midfielder said that he doesn’t know what the future holds for him, while also outlining his ambition to play in the Champions League.
“Here we have the things that make us happy. We don’t need much. This city has welcomed us from day one, we have become parents here. It sounds small, but the way the hospital in this city treated my wife and daughter is very important to me.” De Paul
“These things create bonds that are difficult to break, it would be very difficult to find a comfortable place like this. I like challenges, I like to grow.
“I want to play the Champions League again , I want to play a World Cup. I prepare myself for this every day, then I don’t know what can happen in the future.”
If De Paul really wants to play in the Champions League, Udinese isn’t the club for him.
The Serie A outfit have finished in the bottom half of the league for seven seasons in a row, and with De Paul’s side picking up just four points in seven games this season, a Champions League push looks unlikely to say the least.
Of course, that may also write Leeds off as a potential destination for him as the Whites don’t look likely to gatecrash the top four anytime soon.
However, with Andrea Radrizzani recently saying that his dream is to get Leeds into Europe, this is a deal that United may be able to revisit a few years down the line.
