Bamford underwent surgery to correct a knee injury sustained with Leeds’ Under-23 side.

Patrick Bamford of Leeds United controls the ball during the Carabao Cup Second Round match between Leeds United and Preston North End at Elland Road on August 28, 2018 in Leeds, England.

Patrick Bamford has updated Leeds United fans on the progress of his injury by posting on Instagram – from his sunbed.

The 25-year-old managed just seven Leeds appearances in all competitions before suffering a knee injury while turning out for the Under-23 side, in order to keep up his match fitness.

It saw the former Chelsea striker – who joined Leeds this summer from Middlesbrough for a fee of £10million (BBC) – undergo an operation after learning that he had injured the posterior cruciate ligament.

He is expected to remain on the sidelines until the new year, with the time of recovery expected to be four months from when he first suffered the injury. On holiday, Bamford posted a video of his left leg undergoing muscle stimulation

Bamford was forced to play second fiddle to Kemar Roofe upon arriving at Elland Road, after the latter had starred as Leeds’ centre-forward under new boss Marcelo Bielsa, scoring four goals in six Championship outings.

He has since suffered an injury too, leaving Bielsa with no choice but to start Tyler Roberts up front of late. The Wales international has been somewhat indifferent, missing a hatful of chances against Millwall but scoring a brace against Preston.
