Bayern Munich are reportedly close to agreeing on a new contract with French international Kingsley Coman, which could be excellent news for Leeds United.

According to L’Equipe, the Bavarian giants have reached a breakthrough with the attacker, with Coman set to sign a new three-year contract worth a staggering €17m (£14m)-a-year, the third-highest salary at the club.

Coman’s future with Bayern looked to be on the ropes. However, this new deal seems to confirm that the air has been cleared between the two parties.

More importantly, it now looks like Raphinha won’t be heading to Bavaria anytime soon.

As per another report from L’Equipe, the Brazilian was an option for the Bundesliga side if Coman did leave this summer, with Ousmane Dembele also on the list for Bayern.

However, with Coman set to pen a new contract worth an outrageous £14m-a-year, Leeds can breathe a sigh of relief over Raphinha, who will now likely stay with the Yorkshire giants this year.

Raphinha has without question been Leeds’ best and most important player this season. And news that Coman has signed a new contract with Bayern is huge for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Losing the attacker, even for a club-record fee, would have been disastrous. Yet Bayern tying Coman down with a new contract is just the news Leeds needed to reassure themselves that Raphinha will be staying this window.
