Well, Leeds United fans only have one more sleep before their Premier League return.
The Whites won promotion back to the top flight last season and the 2020-21 campaign will be their first in the big time since 2004.
But it’s an ominous first test for Leeds as they prepare to visit Premier League champions Liverpool on Saturday evening, with Jurgen Klopp’s side winning the title with 99 points last term.
United were similarly dominant in the Championship, but this time Marcelo Bielsa has a few big-money new signings who could make their debuts at Anfield.
Leeds have spent almost £40 million on Rodrigo – a club-record signing – and Robin Koch this summer.
And captain Liam Cooper has revealed that both have settled in well after watching them in training on Wednesday, claiming that both of them are already looking very professional.
He told LUTV: “I didn’t do the 11 v 11 yesterday but the lads did. I went down to Elland Road and watched that session. It was intense.
“The new lads have settled in well and we’re an easy group to come into. I’m sure they’ll get up to speed very soon. They’re professional lads anyway you can tell that in the way they carry themselves.”
Wednesday was Koch’s first-ever training session under Marcelo Bielsa and it remains to be seen if he’ll be ready to face Liverpool.
The problem is that with Ben White leaving after his excellent loan at Elland Road last term, and mystery surrounding the injured Gaetano Berardi’s role in West Yorkshire now, Bielsa doesn’t have a great deal of candidates to partner Cooper in central defence tomorrow if the German isn’t deemed available.
