Leeds ace Luke Ayling spoke exclusively to the Yorkshire Evening Post, and highlighted how Marcelo Bielsa’s strict fitness regime has really helped him personally this season.

The Whites have made an excellent start to their 2018/19 Championship campaign, having taken 14 points from their opening six league outings, and they currently sit comfortably at the top of the table.

Bielsa arrived at Elland Road with a big reputation, and he has hit the ground running with Leeds.

Ayling himself has made a fantastic start to the season, and is looking in the best condition that he has been in since joining Leeds in the summer of 2016.

The 27-year-old credited Bielsa for his new-found levels of fitness, when speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post:

“I’m the fittest, the skinniest, the leanest I’ve been. I thought I was skinny before but he came in and said ‘no, four kilos is what you’ve got to lose’. We had weight targets to reach each day.”

Next up for Leeds is a trip to south London to take on Millwall on Saturday, and Ayling will be hoping to help his side chalk up another win, as they look to cement their place at the top of the table.
