Leeds star Pontus Jansson wants to finish career at Malmo

Leeds United star Pontus Jansson has admitted that he hopes to spend three or four years back with his former club before his career concludes.

Pontus Jansson has told Expressen that while he has no desire to leave Leeds right now, he is hoping that he will finish his career by spending three or four years with former club Malmo.

Jansson is one of the most popular members of the current Leeds side and has established himself as one of the most revered centre-backs in the Championship, especially after a superb first season at Elland Road.

His future has seemingly been a topic of conversation for much of his time in Yorkshire. The Sweden international was initially brought in on loan, so there may have been some concerns about the club’s hopes of turning the deal into a permanent one, especially as his form was impressing a lot of people. And earlier this summer, Expressen reported that West Brom were keen on signing the 27-year-old.

And while Jansson has not suggested that he has any interest in leaving Leeds anytime soon, he did suggest that there is one other club that he would like to play for at some stage before his career concludes.

“Right now I’m at the top of my career. But I hope there will be at least three to four years in the MFF anyway. You can interpret it as you like,” he joked with Expressen.

Jansson has just returned to training with the Whites following Sweden’s run to the quarter-final of the World Cup, so it may be a little while before he is in contention to feature in Marcelo Bielsa’s side this term.

But Leeds fans will certainly be hoping, when he does return to the ranks, that he looks a lot more like the colossus that was so influential during his first campaign at Elland Road.
