Leeds forward Kemar Roofe has issued a coy response when asked by BBC Radio Leeds whether his performance in the win over Preston North End was his best for the Whites.

Garry Monk’s men got their play-off charge back on track as they beat the Lilywhites 3-0 at Elland Road in a pulsating game where Simon Grayson’s side certainly had more than enough good chances for the result to be considerably different.

However, Leeds came out on top due to how clinical they were in front of goal with Roofe playing a crucial part in that, not only scoring the opening goal inside the first 20 minutes, but also setting up Pablo Hernandez’s goal which doubled the Whites’ lead.

But Roofe stopped short of suggesting that the victory saw his best display since his summer move to the Championship side.

“I don’t know, it’s up to you lot to decide that. I just enjoyed myself, every time I’m trying to play, get better every game and help the team to win,” he told BBC Radio Leeds when asked whether it was his best performance for Leeds.

While Roofe is not sure about where that display ranks, some of his statistics from the victory are certainly encouraging ahead of the final few games of the campaign.

While the former Oxford United man may not have made that many accurate passes – only the three substitutes made fewer – the numbers from the last two columns are extremely promising.

Chris Wood has looked extremely isolated over the last couple of games, but Roofe was one of the players against Preston who clearly made a greater effort to make more of an impact in the final third, with eight of his 10 successful passes coming in that area of the pitch.

And while some may suggest that his previous display against Preston was perhaps better, Monk will be delighted that with five games to go, Roofe appears to have found form at the ideal time.
