Chris Wood has enjoyed a sensational season for Leeds United, having scored 20 goals in the Championship already.

While Chris Wood’s sole focus will be to score another important goal when Leeds United travel to Birmingham City this Friday to help boost the Whites’ promotion hopes further, he may also be aware that a goal at St Andrew’s is a must if he wants to continue closing in on what would be an incredible achievement for the campaign.
The New Zealander is currently level with Dwight Gayle at the top of the Championship’s scoring charts, with his winner against Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend taking him to 20 for the campaign. But while Gayle has scored in fewer games – having scored five braces and two hat-tricks – Wood’s goals have been a lot more spread out.
The 25-year-old is still awaiting his first hat-trick of the season and has only scored twice in a game on two occasions. But that has meant that Wood is potentially seven games away from pulling off an amazing feat.
If Wood can score in seven specific games between now and the end of the season, he will have managed to have scored against every single team in the Championship during this one campaign alone.
So far, Wood’s 20 goals have come against 16 different teams, and the seven sides he is yet to score against all feature in the Whites’ remaining 12 fixtures.
Birmingham are one of the teams he did not find the back of the net against earlier in the season, but with Gianfranco Zola’s men struggling somewhat, it would not be that great a surprise to see him keep the possibility alive.
Of course, there are some tough opponents standing in the way of Wood and the staggering achievement – he failed to score against Newcastle and Brighton in the previous games – but given his current form – having scored nine since the turn of the year – it may not be out of the question for the forward to pull it off.
