Leeds striker Chris Wood says he’s good to go for New Zealand despite fears over his fitness.

Leeds United striker Chris Wood has told the New Zealand Football Twitter account that he is ‘good to go’ after being questioned about his fitness levels.

New Zealand were in World Cup qualifying action on Saturday, as they beat New Caledonia 2-0 in Auckland thanks to two goals from winger Marco Rojas.

Today, New Zealand will be in action again, and they’ll face New Caledonia again, as this time they travel to Kone for the reverse fixture, with Anthony Hudson’s men chasing a place in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Hudson is without West Ham United star Winston Reid, but he should be able to call upon striker Chris Wood despite some question marks over his fitness.

Wood, 24, is enjoying a superb season for Leeds United, scoring 11 goals in 19 games in all competitions, just two goals shy of his tally from last season.

The 6ft 3in attacker has also grabbed 18 goals in 42 caps for New Zealand, and he’ll be vital to their chances of picking up another win against New Caledonia.

However, there has been some concern over Wood’s fitness. The New Zealand Herald report that Wood played a ‘limited role’ in training on Monday, meaning some were worried that the striker would be missing against New Caledonia.

Wood has though told the New Zealand Football Twitter account that he’s ‘good to go’, and has no problems, meaning that he’s in line to play for New Zealand before heading back to Leeds for this weekend’s clash with Newcastle United.
