The 20-year-old Leeds midfielder was much happier with his display against Millwall.
Leeds United star Alex Mowatt admits he is unhappy with his recent form – but felt he was back to playing how he should be against Millwall on Saturday afternoon, according to BBC Radio Leeds.
Leeds were 1-0 winners against Ian Holloway’s men at Elland Road, Mowatt netting the decisive strike for Neil Redfearn’s side, and the 20-year-old midfielder feels his performance was a great improvement on his recent showings.
Mowatt was even omitted from one of Redfearn’s recent starting line-ups as he struggled for form but was as influential as he can be once again v Millwall.
And the Leeds star has admitted he had not been up to scratch lately.
“I need to get a run of games going and get fitter. I thought I played well today, I’ve not done as well as should be lately but I thought I was back to how should I play today,” the 20-year-old said after the Millwall game.
Mowatt started down the left-hand side for Leeds and was given license by boss Redfearn to switch flanks with the right-sided Sam Byram at will.
He dealt with the role well – and the performance of the Leeds side as a whole was a source of great encouragement for all concerned with the club.
Next up in the Championship are high-flying Middlesbrough but the Yorkshire side need not enter that clash with any fear. Confidence is high at Elland Road.
