Leeds United have been linked with a surprise move for Red Bull Salzburg striker Moanes Dabour.

Dabour has been in sensational form in the Austrian top flight this season, scoring 12 goals in 16 league games – so it is certainly no surprise that Leeds would like to sign him.

The Israel international is playing for a title contender and has featured in the Europa League this term, so the chances of Thomas Christiansen’s men managing to get a deal across the line already seemed slim.
And perhaps the outcome of Salzburg’s next game could see what remains of Leeds’ hopes of pulling off a stunning move quashed completely – until they secure promotion to the Premier League, at least.
Salzburg travel to Marseille for their final group stage encounter in the Europa League on Thursday. And while the Austrians have already wrapped up top spot in the pool, they will surely want to end this part of the campaign on a high but will also know that their trip to Stade Velodrome, on paper, is their toughest fixture.

Should Dabour perform well therefore, you would imagine that the interest in the 25-year-old will intensify further and Salzburg’s desire to keep him will increase significantly – surely ensuring that his price tag will also increase considerably.
Leeds were already facing an uphill battle trying to convince his club to sanction a deal and then tempt the striker to Elland Road, and you would imagine that a good performance away to Marseille will surely see the Whites have to shelve any plans to target the forward until they are back in the top flight and have the funds to buy top sides’ best players.
