Leeds United have been linked with a move for Ezgjan Alioski after his sensational season with Lugano.

According to Corriere del Ticino, Leeds are interested in signing Lugano winger Ezgjan Alioski this summer following his sensational season. And while he may not be a name that many Whites fans expected to be linked with an Elland Road switch, he would undoubtedly be a tremendous acquisition for Thomas Christiansen and Andrea Radrizzani.

The 25-year-old was in fantastic form during this past campaign, scoring 16 league goals and contributing eight assists for the side as they finished third in the top flight. Another goal in the cup took his tally to 17.

Given those figures, he would surely be a brilliant addition to Leeds’ squad given the contributions of their wide-men during this past season.

No player in the Whites squad other than star striker Chris Wood scored more than six goals in the Championship last term, while only Pablo Hernandez can match Alioski’s return of eight assists, and Hadi Sacko, Souleymane Doukara and Stuart Dallas – three of the men most commonly seen out on the wing – contributed just seven assists between them.

Leeds undoubtedly ran out of steam during the final weeks of the season and were crying out for the kind of end product that would have given them the boost that may have helped keep their play-off dream alive.

Given Alioski’s statistics from this past season, it would hardly be a surprise if Lugano receive several offers for the Macedonia international.

So if that proves to be the case, and Leeds subsequently win the race for his signature, then that would surely alleviate some of the fans’ concerns about whether Christiansen is the right man to take them forward – until the new season begins at least – as it would suggest that his presence at the club certainly does not put off some of the most in-form players from across the continent from coming to Leeds.
