Leeds United probably don’t have to worry about Newcastle United signing Kemar Roofe.

How Leeds United fans would hate to lose Kemar Roofe in January.
The 25-year-old striker has been carrying the goalscoring burden for Leeds in recent days.
Seven days ago, Roofe netted a last-minute winner to seal a stunning 3-2 win away to Aston Villa, who were leading 2-0 at the break.
And then on Boxing Day, the Whites marksman netted two last-gasp goals – one to equalise and another to snatch another 3-2 win, with this time Blackburn Rovers the victims.
With that in mind, you can understand why the Elland Road faithful might be worried about rumours regarding Newcastle United trying to sign Roofe, but they shouldn’t be.
According to The Mirror, Newcastle want to sign the red-hot Leeds hitman, but it doesn’t make a huge deal of sense for the Magpies to be interested.
Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez knows better than most that a brilliant Championship striker means virtually nothing in the Premier League.

Dwight Gayle, who scored 23 goals in helping United win promotion during the 2016-17 campaign, managed a very disappointing six top-flight goals last season.
So why would Benitez want Roofe – who, just like Gayle at West Brom, has 13 goals this season – until he knows whether he can cut the mustard in the big time?
If Newcastle sign a striker in January then it’s unlikely to be one from the Championship, considering that Benitez, for all he knows, might just be recruiting another Gayle, who he loaned to West Brom already.
Roofe might be an excellent Premier League striker, and chances are that he’ll get that opportunity with Leeds next term, but until then Benitez isn’t in the position to be taking gambles and signing the former Oxford United star now would be a big one.
