The Terriers icon and current BBC Radio Leeds pundit thinks the Whites loanee should be given an attacking berth without need to track back.
Leeds United have been advised by former Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Matt Glennon on how best to play former Terriers loanee Izzy Brown.
The 21-year-old midfielder is currently on loan at Elland Road from Chelsea this season and is closing in on a return from major knee surgery.
Earlier this week, Brown was named in the Leeds Under-23s starting XI against their Burnley counterparts in the Professional Development League.
Not only did he complete the full 90 minutes, but also put in a superb display capped off by a goal in the 6-3 hammering of the Clarets.
The England youth international grabbed the fourth of his side’s goals, restoring their lead, after Clarke Odour surged forward and whipped in a pinpoint cross which Brown was able to connect with and slot home.
Brown’s performance and fitness improvement has prompted the Yorkshire Evening Post to suggest that he might be in with a shout of making Marcelo Bielsa’s squad away at Bolton Wanderers in the Championship this weekend.
On Thursday, Glennon – now a pundit for BBC Radio Leeds – spoke to the newspaper and suggested that Brown’s best position is that of a free attacking role, effectively in the pocket which Samuel Saiz currently occupies.
“He’ll work hard and Bielsa, a bit like (David) Wagner, doesn’t have it any other way but he’s best in areas where he can be creative and push on without having to think too much about tracking back,” said the Terriers legend, who made 116 appearances for the club (Transfermarkt).
