If Callum Hudson-Odoi is on the move, why wouldn’t Leeds United take an interest?

January is only around the corner and Leeds United will have already drawn up a shortlist of the positions that need strengthening.
There’s no looking past goalkeeper at the moment, with Leeds boasting only one reliable stopper in the form of Bailey Peacock-Farrell after Jamal Blackman broke his leg.
But the Elland Road side could and probably should also look at a left-winger, as Ezgjan Alioski continues to struggle.
Alioski hasn’t scored since September and hasn’t set one up since October. He is, at this moment in time, a passenger in the express train that Marcelo Bielsa has created this season and although the Macedonian now has Jack Clarke as competition, he needs better.
One name who might appeal to Leeds’ Director of Football Victor Orta is Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The 18-year-old Chelsea attacker has been heavily linked with moves to Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion and although he isn’t mad on a move to the Championship [The Guardian], the Whites might have enough incentives to tempt him.
Not only would Hudson-Odoi be joining a club who are favourites to win Premier League promotion, but he would also gain invaluable experience of playing under one of the world’s most respected coaches: Bielsa.
The 63-year-old is well known to be a fantastic man-manager and, with respect to Dean Smith at Aston Villa or West Brom’s Darren Moore, there is no question over which boss is more likely to bring Hudson-Odoi on a level and the youngster will know that.

Hudson-Odoi, described by Jamie Redknapp as the ‘next superstar’ this past weekend [Daily Mail], won’t be going anywhere on a long-term basis, but in the short term he can help Leeds get to where they need to be.
He is ahead of Clarke in terms of development it seems and much more likely to seriously challenge goal-shy Alioski during the second half of the campaign.
