Leeds United should give £15 million-rated Britt Assombalonga a wide berth.
According to The Northern Echo, Middlesbrough are looking for a cool £15 million for reported Leeds United target Britt Assombalonga.
The same outlet reported on Saturday that Leeds were one of several Championship clubs interested in signing the 25-year-old hitman.
United’s promotion bid suffered last season as a result of Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Kemar Roofe being too inconsistent to fire a second-tier side back to the top flight.
Leeds absolutely need a striker, but paying £15 million to sign Assombalonga would be madness.
That is the same amount as Boro paid last summer to sign him, but the ex-Nottingham Forest ace only managed 15 goals in 46 outings for the The Riverside club, meaning he cost them £1 million per goal.
It’s simply not worth it for the Whites; not when you consider that Derby County only want £11 million [The Mirror] for Matej Vydra, a striker scored six more goals than Assombalonga last season.
Assombalonga is a very good striker, but he isn’t £15 million good and therefore the Whites simply have to prioritise the likes of Vydra and Abel Hernandez over him.
