Marcus Browne could be heading on loan to the Championship in January, and Leeds United should seriously consider a move.
If Leeds are going to strengthen their outfield options in January, it would be little surprise if Marcelo Bielsa wanted a player who could perhaps fill the void left by Samuel Saiz.
Replacing Saiz seems almost impossible given his natural talent and the difficulties that come with doing substantial business in the winter window. But Leeds must still look for a player who can be deployed in the same area of the field.
And perhaps one option worth considering is Marcus Browne, amid reports from The Sun that he could be loaned out to a Championship side for the second-half of the campaign.
Browne is currently playing for Oxford United. And while the League One side agreed a season-long loan deal in the summer, The Sun reports that parent club West Ham may consider recalling him and letting him join a second tier side for the rest of the campaign.
Browne has been excellent in the third tier, scoring seven goals in all competitions and providing four assists in 23 appearances.
Of course, taking that form into the Championship will not be easy. But Leeds should be encouraged by the £3 million deal that saw Kemar Roofe swap Oxford for Elland Road in 2015 (via Yorkshire Evening Post).
Roofe has thrived since being given a chance in his favoured role up front, so perhaps Browne could prove to be a brilliantly shrewd piece of business if Leeds joined the race and managed to loan him next month.
His form so far this term certainly suggests that he could help the likes of Pablo Hernandez and Izzy Brown as they look to shoulder the creative burden in attacking midfield now that Saiz has gone.
