Championship table-toppers Leeds United have been linked with Bolton Wanderers midfielder Josh Vela on a number of occasions.

Bolton Wanderers were determined to stand firm as Leeds United attempted to nab Josh Vela in the closing stages of the summer transfer window.
According to Bolton News, the versatile midfielder emerged as a target for Marcelo Bielsa’s promotion seeking side having previously been linked with a move to West Yorkshire during Thomas Christiansen’s ill-fated spell at Elland Road.
Phil Parkinson had no interest in letting Vela go, however, meaning Leeds missed out.
But, just a few months later, speculation over the 25-year-old’s future is set to raise it’s ugly head once again. Latest claims from the Bolton News state that Vela is out of contract at the end of this season and considering leaving the club he joined at the age of just seven.

So Leeds could soon have their best chance yet to land the hard-working midfielder on a cut-price deal. Bolton’s recent financial difficulties could also play into the Championship leaders’ hands.
Now, Vela has not been a starter in all of Bolton’s league games this season but his tenacity and versatility should appeal to Bielsa.
A central midfielder by trade, Vela is also capable of filling in at right-back – a position Leeds have had problems with in recent months thanks to the injuries suffered by Gaetano Berardi and Luke Ayling.
