Leeds attacker should be given his preferred role.

Leeds United are now without Patrick Bamford after he received a two game suspension, BBC Sport report.

Top scorer Kemar Roofe is also battling fitness issues, and is unlikely to be risked this week ahead of the play-offs.

That leaves Leeds with a selection decision to make, which could involve calling up young striker Ryan Edmondson from the under-23s.

That would be a smart move, as would giving Tyler Roberts a belated chance in his preferred position once again.

When Leeds agreed a fee worth up to £4 million to sign Roberts last year, it was on the proviso he is a striker.

Roberts’ versatility has since been a key asset, helping him get game time in attacking midfield, rather than sitting on the bench behind Tyler Roberts.

It has been a long time since Roberts got a chance up front, that that does not mean the option should be discarded.

His brace against Preston earlier in the season came when he was playing as a striker.

Roberts’ biggest fault in his attacking midfield role has been a lack of goals.

Giving him a chance up front against Ipswich at the weekend could solve Leeds’ dilemma, and help him get his confidence back in front of goal.
