According to TuttoBolognaWeb, Leeds goalkeeper Marco Silvestri could be offered the chance to return to Italy this summer with Bologna keen on making a move. But while the stopper has endured a mixed spell at Elland Road, perhaps the Whites should consider keeping the 26-year-old unless they manage to land one very specific replacement.
Silvestri has had an up and down time in England. At his best, he is capable of pulling off miraculous saves, but he has also been somewhat mistake-prone and has gone from being the side’s number one to falling behind Rob Green in the pecking order.

Though the Italian has not always been convincing, it could be argued that Leeds boast one of the better understudy stoppers in the Championship, and thus, keeping him as Green’s back-up may be a wise move, unless a deal for a recent target looks like it could be agreed.
The Daily Mirror reported back in April that Leeds were amongst a host of clubs – from both of the top two tiers of English football – who were keen on David Stockdale with his Brighton contract set to expire.
David Stockdale is a target for Leeds
Although a Premier League offer may be extremely difficult for the 31-year-old to turn down, an Elland Road switch should also appeal to the goalkeeper given that he was born in Leeds and has previously spoken of being a fan of the Whites (via Argus).
If Leeds do not manage to land Stockdale, the Whites should arguably still be content with their current cluster of stoppers and should therefore try and keep Silvestri in between Rob Green and Bailey Peacock-Farrell in the pecking order.
Signing Stockdale should tempt Leeds to consider selling Silvestri
But with Stockdale proving a hugely influential figure during Brighton’s promotion-winning campaign, he would surely become the side’s number one if he did arrive despite Green’s tremendous first season with Leeds, thus making Silvestri’s position in the team almost unnecessary as a stopper like Peacock-Farrell is arguably the perfect option to be third-choice currently given his potential.
Leeds currently have a strong enough trio of goalkeepers, and thus, letting Silvestri leave seems to make little sense currently. But winning the race for a marquee player like Stockdale would arguably change that situation entirely.
