According to The Mirror (Transfer Live blog, 11:50pm, May 19, 2018), Bristol City are looking at Southampton left-back Sam McQueen as a potential replacement for Joe Bryan, who is reportedly set to join Burnley in the Premier League – and Leeds United should join the race.

McQueen is a very talented and promising left-back, and although the 23-year-old has not had a great impact in the Premier League for the Saints, he has done well when he has been given the chance and would be a good signing for Leeds.

Bryan is one of the best left-backs in the Championship, and if City – who were in the race for the playoffs for much of this past season – are looking at McQueen as a potential replacement for the 24-year-old, then it says a lot about the Southampton left-back.

With The Mirror (Transfer Live blog, 11:50pm, May 19, 2018) reporting that Southampton have told McQueen that he can leave the Premier League club this summer if the right offer comes in, Leeds should not waste time.

True, January signing Laurens De Bock could eventually come good and Tom Pearce could well decide to put pen to paper on a new deal at Elland Road, but for Leeds to challenge for the Championship playoffs, they need more depth and quality, and McQueen, who earns £18,000 per week as salary according to Spotrac.com, would be a smart signing, both in the short term and in the long run.
