Leeds United have been linked with two exciting attackers but Ezgjan Alioski is worth considerably more effort than Samu Saiz.
According to a recent report from Spanish publication AS, Huesca are continuing to field offers for attacker Samu Saiz, potentially holding out for a bidding war that Leeds United could do without.
The Whites have made the highest offer so far, but rather than accepting it, Saiz’s current club are reportedly waiting to see if a better deal arrives in due course.
As a result, Leeds would be wise to step away from the saga – at least for now – and focus on another priority signing.
Ezgjan Alioski is a considerably better prospect than Saiz and Leeds should be going all out to sign the Macedonia international, while leaving their £3.1million offer for the Spaniard on the table.
The Championship club cannot afford to be drawn into a prolonged pursuit of one player at the risk of losing another, especially when Alioski is exactly the kind of footballer to take Leeds to the next level.
A report last month from Correire dello Ticino claimed Leeds were interested in the Lugano attacker and he has been regularly linked ever since, and of all the players Christiansen allegedly wants to bring to Elland Road, the 25-year-old would be the jewel in the proverbial crown.
Leeds do not have to pull out of a move for Saiz; they should simply tell Huesca they have no intention of entering a bidding war that, for now, shows no signs of even happening. They can then turn their attention to negotiating a possible deal for Alioski.
If Leeds miss out on Saiz, it would not be the end of the world. But if they miss out on the talented Macedonian it could be the difference between promotion and yet another year in the second tier.
