The Leeds United forward is yet to find the net for the senior side.
Leeds United’s Jay-Roy Grot certainly has the pace and the build to be a successful Championship forward, but what he does not currently have is the goals.
So far the 19-year-old has featured 12 times for the Whites, predominantly from the bench, and he is yet to find the back of the net, so could a spell with the club’s under-23s give Grot the confidence he needs to ultimately fulfil his potential at Elland Road?
Leeds have plenty of striking options right now and Grot has fallen further down the pecking order following the return of Caleb Ekuban.
With the Ghanaian, Kemar Roofe and Pierre-Michel Lasogga all competing for places, Grot will know he has no realistic chance of starting regularly for Thomas Christiansen’s side any time soon, but that does not mean he cannot fill his boots with the second string.
Given his age, it could be argued that is where the Dutchman should have started his Leeds career, finding his feet before staking a claim with the senior side.
Grot certainly has everything in his locker to terrorise under-23 defences and goal-scorers thrive on confidence; something the Leeds man is unlikely to get sitting unused on the bench on out of the match day squad all together.
