Thomas Christiansen’s Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing Sturm Graz midfielder James Jeggo but would be better off signing one of the Australian’s teammates.
The Daily Mail reported on Friday that Leeds are after the 25-year-old after he turned down the offer of a new contract with the Austrian giants, but face competition from Championship rivals Middlesbrough and Hull City.
However, Leeds are more than equipped in central midfield with Mateusz Klich, Ronaldo Vieira, Eunan O’Kane and Kalvin Phillips all vying for a first-team slot.
Jeggo should not be considered a priority, but his teenage teammate Dario Maresic would prove an instant hit at Elland Road if Leeds were to lure the 18-year-old to Yorkshire.

With five Austria Under-21 caps already to his name, Maresic is quickly emerging as one of the brightest products in Austrian football of his generation.
A commanding centre-back, the youngster is also in the final year of his contract despite being one of Sturm Graz’s most prized possessions.
Comfortable on the ball, but more than adept in the air at just over 6ft 1in, Maresic understands the balance of being composed as well as physical when he needs to be – something that is crucial for a centre-back in English football.

Leeds are slightly thin at the heart of their defence, with Pontus Jansson and Liam Cooper providing Leeds only permanent, proven options. Matthew Pennington is on loan, while Conor Shaughnessy is yet to be trusted completely.
Luring Maresic to Yorkshire, who is already playing well beyond his years and quickly developing a reputation of being a no-nonsense rock at the back, would not only provide cover but signal Leeds’ intention to build for the future.
