Leeds United surprised many during the week by letting Pontus Jansson join one of their Championship rivals.

Leeds surprised a number of their fans in the last week by deciding to sell Pontus Jansson to Championship rivals Brentford for what appeared to be an incredibly low figure.
The move has left plenty of supporters feeling that Marcelo Bielsa may be heading into his second season in charge lacking the number of options needed to mount another promotion charge in the Championship.
It appears that Ben White could begin the campaign as first-choice alongside Liam Cooper, with the likes of Gaetano Berardi, Conor Shaughnessy and Pascal Struijk set to provide cover. It looks to be a gamble to not make another signing before the curtain-raiser against Bristol City.
Jansson himself suggested to Aftonbladet that Leeds’ decision to sell him was largely down to Financial Fair Play. Even if that is the case, the Whites should still be open to bolstering their ranks.

And that is perhaps why Michael Morrison should come onto their radar following his departure from Birmingham City when his contract ended earlier this summer.
Morrison made 174 Championship appearances for the Blues, and he captained the side for much of that time. The 31-year-old is clearly not going to be the most exciting addition to Bielsa’s side this term if Leeds show interest, but on a free transfer, he could definitely do a very good job.
The large majority of Birmingham fans appear to be extremely disappointed that he has left. He rarely grabbed the headlines, but he often did his job with minimal fuss and led the club through a very tricky period.

And with seven goals in the Championship last season, there is no reason why the centre-back could not be a threat at both ends of the pitch.
One of the reasons Leeds failed to get across the line last season was the lack of depth to call upon when injuries decimated the squad. Morrison is the kind of Championship stalwart that Leeds should really consider for that reason, especially as he is available on a free transfer.
