Alexander Isak has endured a difficult time in the Bundesliga, and Leeds United should consider a January loan bid for the striker.

Kemar Roofe is enjoying the kind of season that is forcing the Leeds forward’s critics into silence. The 25-year-old has scored seven goals in 10 Championship appearances to inspire Marcelo Bielsa’s men to the top of the table.
The daunting fact for those expecting Leeds to fall away this term is that Patrick Bamford will improve the club’s striker options further in the new year when he returns from injury. And Tyler Roberts has hardly disappointed when he has been given a chance in the side.
Nevertheless, Bielsa would probably be wise to look at strengthening the striker options further in January if the right player becomes available.
And perhaps Leeds should be tempted to make an ambitious loan bid for Borussia Dortmund striker Alexander Isak as he continues to struggle to force his way into the picture at the Westfalenstadion.
Isak has not lived up to expectations since arriving for around £7.8 million in 2017 – fee reported by Marca – but is clearly a forward who boasts a lot of potential, and reminded Dortmund fans of that potential with a hat-trick for their reserve side on Tuesday in Germany’s third tier.

Isak would offer something different for Leeds. He can play as a target man – he is taller than both Roofe and Bamford – but is also more than comfortable when asked to drop deep and get involved in the build-up play, something that Roofe has done superbly this season.
His change of pace could be devastating at Championship level. He could really help Leeds ask different questions of opponents as they look to remain a prominent player in the promotion picture.

Dortmund seem unlikely to deny Isak a loan exit in January. However, Leeds would probably have to do a lot of work to convince them to loan him to England’s second tier.
But given that he would be working under Bielsa and likely playing in a promotion-chasing side, it seems that there could be plenty of positives to Isak heading to Elland Road should Leeds consider making an offer when the window opens.
