Baker has struggled at Leeds since joining Leeds on loan from Chelsea.

It has been a difficult spell for Lewis Baker, and Tuesday night summed his Leeds United loan up so far. Making his first start against Reading, the Chelsea loanee was hauled off at half-time.

The 23-year-old has made 10 Championship appearances in total, but nine of those have been from the bench. Tuesday showed just why he has not been starting ahead of the likes of Samu Saiz, Adam Forshaw and Mateusz Klich.

He was replaced by Saiz, and the Spaniard impressed as Leeds finally made the breakthrough through Stuart Dallas to beat Reading 1-0 at Elland Road and go second in the Championship.

But if Leeds are to maintain their promotion hunt, they need top-quality cover that can come into the side and shine when called upon. Baker has failed to do that so far.

Cancelling his loan in January may be extreme, but if Marcelo Bielsa believes he can bring in a player that can have more of an impact at Elland Road – then it should be a decision made.

The Telegraph claim Leicester City midfielder and Premier League winner Andy King will leave the King Power Stadium in the January transfer window, after becoming fed up of sitting on the sidelines.

King, 30, has failed to make a single Premier League appearance this season, though he is due a testimonial at Leicester after making his debut back in 2007. He has turned out 374 times for Leicester over the years, scoring 61 goals.

Known for his box-to-box style of play and his ability to score crucially important goals from inside and outside of the penalty area, King could be crucial in giving Leeds another source of goals in their promotion fight.

Landing the Premier League winner and replacing him with Baker would be an excellent bit of business, and certainly a move that would push the Whites closer to an eventual return to the Premier League for the first time since 2004.
