The Spanish magician has been sensational for Leeds United at the start of this season having been linked with a potential move in the summer.

When it was reported by Fichajes in July that Getafe and Valencia had made big money bids for Leeds star Samuel Saiz, it appeared that the Elland Road faithful were somewhat divided on what the club’s response should be.
The Whites fans had seen both sides of Saiz’s game in abundance during his first season. For the first part of the campaign, the Spaniard established himself as Leeds’ magician, scoring plenty of goals, providing assists and creating an incredible amount of openings with his driving runs up the pitch and dazzling trickery.
However, that Saiz seemed to drift away as the campaign went on. The red card at Newport County has gone down as the turning point in his year, and his inability to rediscover his previous magic before the season concluded tempted plenty of fans to suggest that selling this summer may not be a terrible idea, especially with the report suggesting that £8 million had been put on the table.
But just three games into the new season, it appears that keeping Saiz was an inspired decision. The 27-year-old has got back to his best in emphatic fashion and Leeds are now many people’s favourites for promotion following two stunning league wins.

If Marcelo Bielsa is able to keep Saiz on his current path, it is difficult to imagine that many teams will be able to contain Leeds this term. And it is because of that fact that the Whites should arguably not feel entirely safe until August is out of the way.
Getafe and Valencia reportedly made those bids at a time when Saiz had just endured a poor run of form. Given the way that he has started this campaign therefore, it seems inevitable that they will be discussing potentially returning with a fresh bid – and they are probably not going to be the only teams having those discussions in the final days of the window.
Fichajes’ report suggested Leeds had no intention of selling, and that stance will not have changed since those reports emerged at all. However, his start to the season almost makes it seem inevitable that a club is going to try and test the Whites’ resolve to keep their talisman before the deadline arrives.
