Leeds United reportedly had scouts in attendance at the Coventry Arena this weekend to watch Viktor Gyokeres, who is a summer target for the Yorkshire side.

According to the Daily Mail, the Whites, as well as Eintracht Frankfurt and LOSC Lille, all had scouts in the stands to watch the Coventry City youngster face off against Reading, with Gyokeres one of the standout talents in the Championship this season.

The Swedish striker has hit 20 goals and nine assists in the league as Coventry look to win promotion up to the Premier League via the playoffs, yet there’s a growing expectation that Gyokeres will playing in the English top-flight regardless of what happens to the Sky Blues.

The 24-year-old hit 17 goals in the Championship last time out with Gyokeres bettering his tally this campaign and then some, with Leeds one of many top sides now interested in signing the Stockholm-born attacker this summer.

Indeed, the Whites have been linked with Gyokeres for quite some time, and should Leeds survive their latest Premier League relegation battle, the former Brighton & Hove Albion talent could be an exceptional signing for the Javi Gracia’s side.

Gyokeres has clearly shown that he is ready to play in a division higher than the Championship, and should Coventry fail to win promotion whilst Leeds remain in the Premier League, the Whites have to do all they can to bring the Swede to Elland Road.

Leeds have shown in recent weeks how much they’re missing a natural goalscorer to lead the attack, and with Gyokeres scoring for fun in the Championship, the 24-year-old is ideal to take over Patrick Bamford’s role as the main strike of the team for next season.
