Leeds United goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell made his international debut on Monday.
Bailey Peacock-Farrell has enjoyed a fine few weeks, and that got even better on Monday night as he made his debut for the Northern Ireland Under-21’s.
Peacock-Farrell, 21, was handed just his second-ever appearance for Leeds earlier this month, starting in a 3-0 home defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers as manager Paul Heckingbottom gave him a chance over error-prone Felix Wiedwald.
The young goalkeeper now appears to have the shirt nailed down until the end of the season as Heckingbottom weighs up his options, having played the last three games for Leeds.
Peacock-Farrell was handed a call-up to the Northern Ireland Under-21 squad as a result, and he started as they took on their Icelandic counterparts in Coleraine.
Peacock-Farrell kept a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw, and he will hope to continue his international grounding as he eventually pursues senior caps for Northern Ireland.
After the final whistle, Leeds United’s official Twitter account posted a message to Peacock-Farrell, congratulating him on his debut and his clean sheet.
Peacock-Farrell responded by admitting he was delighted to have made his debut, but was disappointed to have only claimed a point in a game he feels Northern Ireland could have won.
