Should Leeds United cash in on Sam Byram to sign Nottingham Forest’s Michail Antonio?
The Yorkshire Evening Post reported last week how Leeds United are keen to sign Nottingham Forest winger Michail Antonio.
Their report quite rightly states Leeds are likely to be priced out of their efforts to sign the explosive attacker, but there is one way.
And it will not be popular.
Sell Sam Byram to fund the move
If Leeds are to push forward the conventional wisdom is they must keep hold of their homegrown players, starting with Sam Byram as even head coach Uwe Rosler told SkySports last week.
Yet the full-back turned winger has only one year left remaining on his contract at the club, and if there is no development in terms of a new deal being signed, at some stage the club must consider their options.
He is their most sale-able asset, and has been linked with several Premier League sides, with The Guardian reporting last week Everton were interested along with Sunderland and Newcastle United.
Leeds learned last season Byram is temporarily at least, replaceable at right-back, and as a winger while he has outstanding potential – Antonio is a more proven commodity and possesses experience in the division at the position.

Should Leeds receive £8 million plus for Byram, that could go straight into a bid for Antonio which may yet sway Nottingham Forest.
