Leeds United are reportedly keen on Manchester United’s James Wilson.

According to The Sun, Leeds United are interested in snapping up Manchester United striker James Wilson on loan in January – and the forward may be open to such a move.

Wilson, 21, has been coming up through the ranks with United ever since joining them way back in 2002, and he burst onto the scene in 2014 under Ryan Giggs’ temporary tutelage.

The striker scored twice in his first ever Premier League start against Hull City back in May 2014, but he has scored just once for United since as injuries have taken their toll on the forward.

Once touted for stardom, Wilson hit five goals in 27 games on loan for Brighton, before a loan move to Derby County last season was cut short after just four games, with injury forcing him to go back to Old Trafford.

Now back and featuring for the United Under-23 side, Wilson is believed to be attracting interest ahead of the January transfer window, with The Sun claiming that Leeds United and Reading are both interested.

Leeds already have Cameron Borthwick-Jackson on loan from the Red Devils, and the pair could reunite at Elland Road in January as Thomas Christiansen continues to search for attacking reinforcements, even after landing Caleb Ekuban, Jay-Roy Grot, Pawel Cibicki and Pierre Michel-Lasoggao over the summer.

Now, Wilson has told the Manchester United official website that he doesn’t see any reason why he wouldn’t go out on loan in January, after the United staff agreed that he should build up his fitness before heading out in the new year.

Wilson added that a loan move is a real possibility as he looks to get out and play first-team football, suggesting that he may well be interested in a loan move to Leeds, if they do come calling.

“I don’t see why not. Obviously, the summer transfer window has gone and there was a lot of interest,” said Wilson. “But the staff all came to an agreement that I would stay until January to build on what I’ve already worked for.”

“So I think it’s certainly a possibility. We’ll just have to talk and have a few conversations with the manager and certain people around here. I’m not ruling it out but we’ll come to an agreement over what needs to be done,” he added.
