Leeds United are reportedly keen on Brighton striker Aaron Connolly.
According to The Sun, Leeds United are one of the clubs interested in snapping up Brighton and Hove Albion striker Aaron Connolly.
Connolly, 18, joined Brighton from Mervue United in his native Ireland back in 2016, and has been coming up through the Seagulls ranks ever since.
The striker hit the headlines earlier this season having scored hat-trick for Brighton in the Checkatrade Trophy against MK Dons back in November.
Now, having smashed in the goals for Brighton’s development side, The Sun believe Chris Hughton’s men are prepared to hand him a bumper contract extension.
The only problem is that major clubs want Connolly. Celtic, Manchester City and Manchester United are all in the race, as well as German side Hoffenheim.
Leeds are listed as another team to be interested, but it’s claimed that they may be priced out of a deal for the striker in 2019.
Connolly would be a real coup for Leeds, and a sign of their pulling power under Marcelo Bielsa, but it’s an uphill task for many reasons.
Celtic, City and United are likely to be able to offer European football next season, and should be able to beat whatever financial offer Leeds can muster.
Greater chance of first-team football may just give Leeds a chance, but their pursuit of Connolly may not lead to a signing as the Whites battle major clubs for this signature.
