Atalanta’s Marco Carnesecchi could be available on loan this summer amid claims that Leeds United are interested in bringing the Italian goalkeeper to Elland Road, according to Calciomercato.

If you are looking to snap up a highly-rated young shot-stopper, then delving into the Serie A market might be the way to go.

Some of the most promising glovesmen in European football are plying their trade on Italian shores these days, from Pierluigi Gollini to Gigi Donnarumma, Emil Audero to Juan Musso.

And you can add Carnesecchi to that list too, even if he is yet to force his way into the starting XI of a thrilling Atalanta side who have taken Italian and European football by storm with their free-flowing, uber-attacking ways.

“Marco is one of the best young Italians ever,” the teenager’s agent, Bruno Carpeggiani, told TuttoB recently, describing the teenager as a ‘jewel’.

It is an agent’s job, of course, to talk up their clients to the Nth degree but maybe Carpeggiani is on the money here. Carnesecchi is already a regular for the Italy U21s and his performances on loan at Serie B outfit Trapani this season have been nothing short of sensational at times.

Leeds’ director of football Victor Orta is always on the lookout for diamonds in the rough and, according to TuttoB, Carnesecchi could be on his way to Elland Road some time soon.

But how does the man himself feel about the situation. Confused, perhaps. Calciomercato states that Carnesecchi has no idea where he will be playing next season with another loan move on the cards.

Unless former Aston Villa and Manchester United keeper Gollini leaves Atalanta for another club, a place in the starting XI will remain out of Carnesecchi’s reach.
