Chelsea outcast Kenedy is a target for Leeds this summer, with the Brazilian entering the final year of his contract – and Frank Lampard is a big fan. The Everton boss raved about Kenedy’s attitude and work rate back in 2019.

Kenedy, 26, is likely to be one of a number of Chelsea players that leave this summer. The Blues will surely prefer to receive a fee for the left-footer, than let him go on a free next summer. Leeds are considering a move.

Reports emerged last week that Kenedy – who spent the first half of the season on loan at Brazilian giants Flamengo – is a target for the Whites. He had a hand in seven goals during 31 outings for Flamengo during 2021.

The season prior, he sparkled in La Liga for Granada – scoring eight and creating six in 2020-21. His chances of game time at Chelsea are limited, even if Marcos Alonso goes. Leeds are ready to take advantage.

Newcastle fans will tell you that Kenedy is a proper player, after 18 months during Rafa Benitez’s reign. Back in 2019, Lampard also raved about him – praising his work rate. Certainly, it is a key trait required to play for Leeds.

“If Kenedy continues to show the attitude and play the way he did today he is making a great case to stay having been on loan in recent seasons,” Lampard said, after a pre-season game against Kawasaki Frontale.

Lampard a big fan of Leeds target Kenedy: What kind of fee?

Kenedy has everything required to play for Leeds. Versatility – left-back, wing-back, left wing, right wing or even as a no.10, he can impress. Work rate, as Lampard states, and Premier League experience with Newcastle.

In terms of finances, he is only earning £25,000 a week at Chelsea, meaning he is easily affordable for Leeds in terms of wages. His transfer fee is crucial. Kenedy is a player that can easily be worth £20million.

Bought for £6.7million (Mail), the Blues will want to make a profit. But his contract situation makes him a lot cheaper. Leeds might be able to tempt Chelsea with an offer of £10million – but they should not exceed £15million.
