Leeds United will be looking to end their Championship campaign on a high heading into the play-offs.
Marcelo Bielsa faces a tricky set of decisions heading into Leeds’ final game of the Championship season, with the Whites wanting to guarantee third spot and end the campaign on a high but ensure that they go into the play-off semi-final with no more injuries to key players.
For those reasons, a clash with already-relegated Ipswich seems ideal for Leeds. But it is still difficult to imagine Bielsa making too many changes for the trip to Portman Road.
He looks set however, to be forced into at least two changes. Stuart Dallas is set to be sidelined until the play-offs after being injured in the draw with Aston Villa, so Gaetano Berardi is surely set to come in against the Tractor Boys.
Meanwhile, Patrick Bamford will be suspended for the next two games after the events against Villa on Sunday. Had automatic-promotion still been up for grabs, Kemar Roofe would almost definitely come back in, but Bielsa may be tempted to hold him back for the play-off semi-final and instead bring him off the bench in the latter stages.
There are a number of contenders to replace Bamford. Izzy Brown got a chance to lead the line for the under-23s on Monday, but he picked up an injury during the second-half and it is not clear if he will be available to Bielsa this weekend. He was also overshadowed by both Ryan Edmondson and Kun Temenuzhkov in the 3-2 win against Coventry.
But perhaps the leading candidate if Roofe does not start is Tyler Roberts. Roberts was exceptional after coming on against Villa and had shown earlier in the season that he can step up when used up front.
The other potential change could perhaps involve Jamie Shackleton. The versatile youngster could be ideal for this kind of game, and he may perhaps be in line for a chance in midfield, potentially replacing Mateusz Klich.
