The defeat against the Brewers last year dealt a huge blow to Leeds’ top six hopes just weeks after they looked nailed on to extend their season beyond their 46th game.
This time however, Christiansen’s men go into the contest off the back of a much better run of form, having won their last three, and sit fifth in the table following their 1-0 win over Hull City on Saturday.
With the busy festive period asking plenty of questions of squads, it would be no surprise to see Thomas Christiansen make a number of changes to the side that faced the Tigers.
The first change expected involves attacking midfielder Samuel Saiz. The magician missed Saturday’s win due to injury, but Christiansen has confirmed that he should be fit for Tuesday, and it would be a major shock if he did not feature against Burton.
Pawel Cibicki may be the man who is rested as Pablo Hernandez scored the winner at the weekend while Gjanni Alioski’s work-rate may be welcome against Nigel Clough’s men, but perhaps Christiansen may also consider sticking with the trio and putting Saiz on the bench.
Meanwhile, Kalvin Phillips’ display against Hull may see him rested with Eunan O’Kane – who came on for Phillips and looked impressive in the second-half – replacing him alongside Ronaldo Vieira.
The final change that may take place comes up front. Kemar Roofe has struggled to make an impact since his hat-trick against Queens Park Rangers, so perhaps Pierre-Michel Lasogga will follow up his substitute appearance against Hull with his first start since the start of November.
