The Leeds United defender gives his two cents on a transfer involving the Everton star.

Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson has told Sky Sports that it will be “tough” for Everton’s Romelu Lukaku to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Manchester United.

The Guardian reported on Friday that the 24-year-old hitman is set to swap Everton for the Red Devils in a £75 million deal.

Speculation about his switch comes a week after Ibrahimovic left Old Trafford after his one-year contract expired, the legendary Swedish striker scoring 27 goals last season.

And the Leeds centre-back, who played with the 35-year-old at international level, says that Lukaku has a big job on his hands to fill the void left by his compatriot.

He told Sky Sports: “I played against him [Lukaku] in the Euros. He’s a good striker, very strong and big. But he’s going to replace Zlatan so it’ll be hard for him.

“He’s got a lot of goals in the Premier League already, but it’s tough to replace Zlatan in Manchester so it’ll be tough for him.”

It might be tough, but few would argue that the Everton marksman isn’t capable of being a huge hit with United.

Lukaku is consitently getting better and last term he netted 25 Premier League goals in 37 starts for what his best ever season in the individual stakes.

Jansson joined Leeds on a permanent basis this summer.
