Millwall play host to Leeds United in the Championship on Saturday.
Former Leeds ace Noel Whelan spoke exclusively to the Yorkshire Evening Post, and warned Marcelo Bielsa’s men that they will be in for a very tough afternoon at the New Den against Millwall on Saturday.
The Whites have made an excellent start to their 2018/19 campaign under Bielsa, taking 14 points from their opening six Championship outings, and they currently sit comfortably at the top of the table.
Leeds have played some excellent football so far this season, but the other side of their game will surely be tested to the limit away at Millwall on Saturday.
Whelan, who spent spells at both Leeds and Millwall, warned the west Yorkshire outfit that they will be in for a serious test at the weekend, both physically and mentally, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post:
“The atmosphere there is almost a tradition. It’s passed down by the old school to the younger supporters and the crowd love riling you, abusing you and looking for weakness. If you show fear or if you’re soft, they’ll see it and go after you. On Saturday every one of Millwall’s players will be wondering if Leeds will go missing again.”
Leeds will have to emerge unscathed from plenty of tough away games this season, if they are to gain promotion back to the Premier League, and there will be none more tricky than Saturday’s trip to south London.
