Speaking to Leeds’ official club website, Pascal Struijk has outlined his desire to get to the same level as Liverpool ace Virgil van Dijk.
The Leeds centre-back has been a revelation this season for the Whites, and at the age of just 21, he has a lot of room to improve.
Struijk says he wants to get to the level of van Dijk.
What’s been said?
The defender has outlined where he wants to be in his career, and he says that he’s aiming for the very top.
“Yeah of course, there are some really good players to watch. I would like to see myself playing at the same level as Virgil van Dijk, Matthijs de Ligt, Frenkie de Jong, all the players that came from not just Ajax, but the Dutch players. I want to make sure that I work hard, and get to their level,” Struijk said.

The next van Dijk?
Struijk may want to become the next van Dijk, but is he good enough to emulate the Liverpool star?
Well, interestingly, it has to be said that Struijk is ahead of van Dijk in terms of his development at the same age.
Indeed, at the age of 21, Struijk is a key player in a top-half Premier League side, whereas in comparison van Dijk had only just broken into the Gronigen team at the same age.
Of course, not every footballer is going to progress at the same rate as van Dijk, but if Struijk somehow manages to, there’s no reason why he can’t hit similar heights.
