Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has said that head coach Marcelo Bielsa has had a go at him at times this season, as quoted on Leeds Live.

Bamford made the comments following Leeds’s win against Derby County in the Championship on Sunday.

The Whites have won the Championship title this season and have clinched automatic promotion to the Premier League for the 2020-21 campaign.

Bamford has been a key figure in the West Yorkshire outfit’s quest, scoring 16 goals and providing two assists in the league, as stated on BBC Sport.

The 26-year-old striker has gone through spells when he has struggled to score goals or missed some good chances.

The former Chelsea and Nottingham Forest player has hailed Bielsa for the impact he has made on him, and has stated that there have been times when the Argentine was not happy with him.

Leeds Live quotes Bamford as saying: “(I owe Bielsa) everything. I can’t speak highly enough about him. There’s been times this year where I’ve been through rough patches, maybe not scoring the goals, but offering other things to the team.

“He’s always been the one to support me. I owe him a lot. I can’t really put into words how much it means with the amount of trust he’s put into me.

“He’s had a go at me a fair few times, and I’ve probably deserved it! But he’s always stuck by me and I just really hope he stays next year.”

Stepping up

Bamford is the main striker at Leeds at the moment, and there is no doubt that the Englishman is a very good player.

However, the 26-year-old needs to become more clinical and has to score more frequently and from fewer chances.
