Andrea Radrizzani decided to sack Thomas Christiansen from his position as Leeds United manager on Sunday.
Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has taken to Twitter in order to clear up his comments regarding Thomas Christiansen, with many outlets quoting him as saying that it was a “mistake” to hire the manager.
Radrizzani and the rest of the Leeds board decided enough was enough on Sunday, and relieved Christiansen from his post as manager at Elland Road following a run of seven games without a win and four red cards in that time.
Speaking in an interview with the Yorkshire Evening Post, Radrizzani said “Anything that doesn’t work is a mistake so yes, I did make a mistake,” regarding former APOEL Nicosia manager Christiansen.
However, he cleared up what he meant on Twitter after he received criticism on social media for labelling Paul Heckingbottom’s predecessor as a mistake. He said he has taken the “responsibility” of his choice.
The Leeds board moved quickly to replace Christiansen, appointing 40-year-old Englishman Heckingbottom from Yorkshire rivals Barnsley. It has been met with a mixed response, with some underwhelmed at his smaller calibre than other bosses.
Heckingbottom first takes to the dugout as Leeds boss on Saturday, as Leeds travel to Bramall Lane to face bitter rivals Sheffield United in what will be a tough encounter.
